Definition of closed periodClosed period The closed period is the period after the year end, half year end or quarter end before the results for that period are announced. During this period, directors and other senior employees are prohibited from dealing in the company's shares (on the basis that they are already likely to be aware of the results which are as yet unpublished and could impact the share price).
